Conferences and workshops
From the 21st to the 22nd of November the 10th values-based education conference "To listen and to speak: about the dialogical communication at school" took place. The conference discussed how to receive and give good feedback to different parties at school; how to support open mindset; what exactly is dialogical communication? The conference was supported by the Ministry of Education and Research and British Council Estonia. View presentations and photo gallery.
From the 7th to the 9th of September, the international conference "Emotions: Rationality, Morality and Social Understanding" took place. The conference was organized by Centre for Ethics, University of Tartu, the Institute of Philosophy and Semiotics, and the Centre of Excellence in Estonian Studies.
The Centre for Ethics hosted two discussions at the annual Opinion Festival. The discussions ”The dream of patient-oriented medicine in Estonia” and "Talking about children’s mental health holistically – is it possible?” took place on the 11th of August. Look at the photo gallery.
On the 10th of February, the international conference "Researching with Integrity" was held. The conference was organized by the Centre for Ethics in cooperation with the Estonian Research Council. View the presentations and the photo gallery.
On the 8th of February, the workshop “Research Ethics and Researchers’ Integrity” was organized by the Centre for Ethics, University of Tartu. The aim of the research ethics workshop was to bring together the students of three Doctoral Schools from the Universities of Konstanz (Germany) and Tartu (Estonia) in order to share experiences and knowledge of research ethics and codes of conduct for research and to discuss research integrity.
Book presentations
On the 19th of June, the Centre for Ethics, University of Tartu organized the presentation of the book “Estonia AND Nordic Countries- Estonia AS a Nordic Country?”. The presentation was broadcasted live on Facebook by a local newspaper.
On the 14th of June, the Centre for Ethics, University of Tartu presented the book „Codes of Conduct. Values, Norms and Ethical Dilemmas”. They keynote speaker was Professor Elisabeth Hildt from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago who talked about codes of conducts in USA. Look at the presentation of Professor Hildt.
