Conferences and Workshops
November 20th a Academica special workshop titled "Ethics, Science and Protection of Intellectual Property. New Technologies, Old Rights and Difficult Moral Dilemmas" took place. November 12th a conference "How to present? How to interpret? The case of Soviet times" took place, the event was organized in cooperation with Estonian National Museum. The presenters featured: Margit Sutrop, Imbi Paju, Halliki Harro-Loit, Eha Komissarov ja David Vseviov.
October 31st an international conference "Individual and social use of genetic and e-health databases. Duties of researchers, rights of participants". October 25th to 26th a workshop titled "Ethics made simple for researchers. Mistakes made and how to avoid them." took place. The event was organized in cooperation with the Doctoral School for Clinical Medicine, the Graduate School in Biomedicine and Biotechnology and the Doctoral School of Behavioural, Social and Health Sciences of the University of Tartu in cooperation with the Estonian Research Council. July 11th to July 12th an international seminar on medical philosophy titled "Medical philosophy and medical ethics in the Nordic and the Baltic countries - some pressing issues" took place. The event was organized in cooperation with the Department of Philosophy and featured presenters from Iceland, Finland, Lithuania, Germany, Norway and elsewhere.
June 11th to 13th The Centre for Ethics helped to organize an international conference titled "Religion and Resistance in Europe from the Middle Ages to 21st century". See also the event program.
Lectures
September 18th dr. Linda Leith the director of Christ Church University, Faculty of Education, QiSS (Quality in Study Support) held a lecture titled "Quality in Study Support and Critical Friendship for QiSS: the UK experience".
Colloquia
November 2nd an ethics colloquium titled "Death and the ethical significance of the rituals attached to it" took place. The panelists were Meego Remmel and Argo Moor, moderated by Kaido Soom.
May 30th an ethics colloquium titled "Donating your organs for transplanting - why and how?" took place. The panelists were Katrin Elmet, Virge Pall and Margit Sutrop, moderated by Aime Keis.
February 28th an ethics colloquim titled "The freedom and responsibility of journalism: What to do with illegally obtained info when public interest is at stake?" took place. The panelists were Margit Sutrop, Halliki Harro-Loit and Aivar Hundimägi, moderated by Külli-Riin Tigasson.
January 18th an ethics colloquim titled "Animal testing - ideals and conflicts" took place. The panelists were Külli Keerus and Kai Õkva, moderated by Timo Maran.
