Swedbank business ethics scholarship
SIn autumn 2012, the Centre for Ethics, Tartu University Foundation and Swedbank signed a cooperation contract in order to establish Swedbank’s stipends of business ethics.
The stipends are established in order to develop and support sustainable and socially responsible business culture in Estonia, enhance the awareness of the issues of business ethics and initiate a public debate. Up to 4 stipends of 2000 EUR are allocated to the PhD students whose research topic concerns social responsibility and business ethics, and who are willing to cooperate with Swedbank and the Centre for Ethics in their research. PhD students of all fields and universities can apply for the scholarship. Once a semester, a 2 day session is organised to the students by the Centre.
Volkswagen Stiftung scholarship
Each September (from 2001 to 2005) the Centre for Ethics published the stipend (scholarship) call for PhD students of the University of Tartu. Stipends were paid for with the support of the Volkswagen Stiftung and the call was open to all PhD students of the university doing research on ethics or ethics-related issues. There were maximum five stipends available each year and these (2800 EEK/180 EUR per month) were allocated for one year (in case of successful studies the stipend could be received for up to three years).
During a follow-up program (2004-2006) stipends were give out for developing ethics-related courses in the University of Tartu. The aim was to support lecturers and professors from all faculties to come up with their field specific courses (from gene technology to sport).
